Consumer Data Right Draft Rules 2024

On 24 December, AFIA submitted its response to Treasury’s consultation on the Consumer Data Right (CDR) Draft Rules 2024. AFIA’s submission supports the recalibrated framework, which prioritises high-value use cases, reduces regulatory burdens, and introduces a phased implementation timeline for non-bank lenders. AFIA welcomes the increased thresholds for mandatory participation and the narrowed scope of data sharing while recommending further clarification on key definitions, voluntary participation, and business account access.
