Associate Member, Ashurst will deliver a six-part webinar series over 2022 to help members better understand Australia’s financial markets conduct regulator, ASIC.

The series ‘Understanding the Conduct Regulator’ will explore the regulator's toolkit in the current environment, including enforcement and supervision. It also gives focus to the emerging themes and key regulatory reforms in the financial services industry, like the regulation of digital assets and the incoming Financial Accountability Regime.

In the third instalment, 'Unpacking the regulatory toolkit II: Supervision', Liz Hristoforidis, Director, Ashurst Risk Advisory, will be joined by Matt Worsfold, Partner and Head of Data and Analytics and Lucinda Hill, Partner, Dispute Resolution, to deep dive into ASIC's supervisory approach, how it has evolved over time, and the new trends we see emerging in institutional supervision, thematic reviews and surveillance. Together, our panel will:

• give us a refresher on ASIC's regulatory tools, and how supervision fits in the toolkit to drive behavioural change and sustainable risk and compliance solutions
• explore ASIC's approach to supervision, including institutional supervision of large and complex organisations, supervision of market participants and issues-based or thematic surveillance within and across sectors, and
• discuss the new, data-centric frontier of supervision, and increasing collaboration between regulators.

The panel delve into how improved engagement with the conduct regulator can help institutions face supervisory approaches confidently and effectively, with a focus on embedding more sustainable frameworks, systems, processes and practices.
