The Financial Year 20/21 has certainly been a challenging year for us all. Through this crisis-dominated year, AFIA played a vital role in supporting members and our industry.
The AFIA FY21 Annual Review shares our reflections about the last financial year, acknowledging the work done by our members, and looks ahead to the opportunities and challenges that our industry will face.
Many leadership theorists say that people grow and develop when operating in the ‘uncomfortable’. I think most people would say that they have been operating for the past year (or nearly two actually!) in a state of the unknown, making strategic and operational decisions that have never been considered before in quite the same way. So if we take anything from the past year, it should be that we are proud of what we’ve achieved, what we’ve learnt, and how we’ve grown – individually, and collectively as a finance community.
We are super proud of the role the finance industry has taken in supporting customers throughout the pandemic, adapting to the uncertainty, and resetting business and work models to keep pace with the constantly changing and evolving environment in FY21. We’ve taken a moment to reflect and acknowledge those achievements in our Annual Review and are pleased to be able to share them with you. We’ve had a big FY20, but FY21 proved to be even bigger. As you read through the Annual Review you’ll see how we’ve adapted, changed, engaged to influence decisions and outcomes, built for the future, and importantly, how you’ve contributed to address these challenges to be a better industry for customers and the community.
There are some big challenges facing our industry and our nation in the coming years. It’s an exciting time for our industry, an extraordinary time for creativity and change. A time that needs different and longer-term thinking, all while keeping our eye on the immediate issues. A time that will need us to work together as a finance community... I’m up for the challenge and I know you will be too! A big thank you to all our members!
